CINECA Challenge 2: Interoperable authentication and authorisation

Most human genetic data are subject to controlled access, largely driven by the consent agreements signed by participants. Authentication and Authorisation Infrastructure (AAI) is a fundamental requirement to enable almost all downstream clinical and research applications of human data. Interoperability amongst AAI systems is a key component to enable intensified reuse of human data. AAI must incorporate concepts such as standardised researcher IDs that include trusted credentials of the researcher including affiliations, and information on authorisations already granted. This will enable more simplified and rapid access to data, whilst maintaining current rigour for data access.
